Every year we remember those who have fallen in the service of the United Kingdom. Let us not forget the sacrifice and bravery of the men and woman who gave everything in the service of others.
Following the appointment of Rishi Sunak MP as Prime Minister I am no longer serving as part of the Government and will remain as a backbench Member of Parliament serving the people of the Northampton North constituency, as I have been since my election in May 2010.
On Saturday, 15th October I was delighted to attend the 22nd Annual Diwali Lights Celebration in the Market Square, Northampton. I have enjoyed excellent and longstanding relations with the Hindu Community in Northampton, and I am always pleased to be invited every year to such a special event.
The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative originally created to mark Her Late Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee earlier this year. It invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
Recently I visited the Northampton Community Foundation at their offices in Northampton town centre. The foundation is an independent grant-making charity, granting over £1million annually in Northamptonshire and it aims to help improve the county’s most disadvantaged communities.
I recently met Richard Munro, the director at Commsave Credit Union Ltd, in Moulton Park, Northampton. Commsave is a ‘not for profit’ credit union owned and controlled by its members and has become one of the most successful credit unions in the UK.
