Every year we remember those who have fallen in the service of the United Kingdom. Let us not forget the sacrifice and bravery of the men and woman who gave everything in the service of others.
As ever, it is of the upmost importance that we keep in remembrance those who sacrificed their futures and paid the ultimate price in defence of our nation and our way of life.
This year I was invited to attend the Royal British Legion Annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, in the presence of His Majesty The King and the Royal Family. The event, which was televised, was very moving. The occasion this year remembered the life and service of our late Queen in a special tribute. This year also marked 40 years since the Falklands Conflict.
Then on Remembrance Sunday this year I again attended the annual civic service held at All Saints Church in Northampton town centre and laid a wreath at the War Memorial, as I have done without fail every year since I became MP for Northampton North in 2010. Afterwards there was a short march past at the Guildhall and then I went to the Reserve Army barracks in Clare Street to join military personnel and visitors for a curry lunch.
I consider the annual wreath laying ceremony to be the most important civic duty I perform as MP for Northampton North and it is always an honour every year.
