In the last fortnight I attended a meeting with Northamptonshire MPs and local church leaders.
Leaders of the Anglican, Roman Catholic and Methodist communities were all present: The Bishop of Peterborough, the Vicar General for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton and the Chair of the Northampton District of the Methodist Church. We exchanged views on the pressing issues in Northamptonshire and how we are helping those who need help the most.
Faith is one of the most important pillars of the community and it was a pleasure to talk to the various leaders of the Christian faith in Northamptonshire. I have regularly visited churches in our county – indeed we have some of the most historic and beautiful churches in the country with some notable examples being All Saints Church and St Peter’s Church in the town centre – as I am of the opinion that it is important to work with groups of all faiths and none here in Northampton.
