At the beginning of August some sections of the No 19 Violet bus route were cut by the Uno bus company – these sections, namely Kingsley Road, Kingsthorpe Grove and Boughton Green Road are vital for many of my constituents, some of whom are elderly and would struggle to travel otherwise.
Many people have unfortunately been affected by this change of route which is why I have previously written to the Managing Director of Uno to relay my constituent’s concerns. I was told back then that the change had happened due to the move of the University of Northampton campus to the Waterside area.
It seems to me that keeping Kingsley Road, Kingsthorpe Grove and Boughton Green Road on the route is commercially viable considering the number of people on these roads using the service. Indeed, over 600 people have signed a petition to reinstate the original bus route: https://www.change.org/p/jim-thorpe-bring-the-no-19-uno-violet-bus-back-to-kingsley-road-northampton-once-an-hour.
I have therefore asked that Uno or indeed Stagecoach look to restore this route.
