In the last fortnight I have visited both Headlands Primary School and Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School to speak to the pupils about my role as Member of Parliament for Northampton North.
At Headlands I chaired a debate between the Year 6 students on the subject of immigration and at Kingsthorpe Grove I held a Q&A with the students. I thoroughly enjoyed both visits – the children were bright, confident and eloquent.
I think it is vitally important for an MP to regularly visit local schools to help the pupils understand politics and also to show a genuine interest in their education.
During my time as Member of Parliament for Northampton North I think I have visited every school in my constituency at least once – and most schools several times! I will continue to take a keen interest in the education that my constituents are receiving.
