I went to Northampton General Hospital in the last two weeks for one of my regular meetings to discuss the operation and future of healthcare in Northampton with the Hospital Chief Executive.
The General Hospital and local healthcare is of course very important to us all in Northampton, and doing whatever I can to ensure the NHS is well funded and successful is something I have prioritized throughout my time as an MP.
Northampton General Hospital (NGH) serves the town and a large area around it, so recently my fellow Northamptonshire MPs Chris Heaton-Harris MP (Daventry) and David Mackintosh MP (Northampton South) joined me for a meeting with Dr Sonia Swart, the Chief Executive of the Hospital.
We discussed healthcare funding in our area, and pressures that exist in the system.
I am pleased that since being elected in 2010 this government has given the NHS a 10% funding increase – but much more needs to be done and I will continue to fight for any positive measures that can be taken to strengthen healthcare for residents of Northampton North.
