There was a formal public hearing at Franklins Gardens over plans by the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit to build 26,000 new homes around Northampton, and I went along to address the Hearing and raise my concerns that the infrastructure is not in place to support such large-scale development.
There is no doubt that there is a real need for more homes to be built, although the present government has built more homes in three years than the previous government did in thirteen years, but the road system needs to be in place to prevent gridlock.
It is always important to get the right infrastructure in place before expanding, to alleviate future problems.
I was glad to support the Whitehills and Spring Park Residents’ Association (WASPRA) who have voiced concerns over the building of over 1,000 new homes near Whitehills at Buckton Fields.Â
