I receive emails regularly from constituents who are rightly very concerned about the plight of practising Christians in many places around the world who are persecuted for their beliefs. Atrocities have taken place in many areas of the world and in the last few days I was invited to attend an important meeting in Parliament highlighting the plight of Christians in North Korea.
The appalling regime in North Korea subjugates its people with cruel barbarity and Christians are amongst those subject to imprisonment in labour camps. I heard first-hand the difficult personal story from a North Korean Christian survivor of one of the notorious prison camps in her country; she fled to the West after her release.
Human rights abuses and crimes against humanity are being committed at camps in places like Yodok and Chongori. People of all religions and of none deserve the right to their beliefs without fear of persecution.
