In my nearly nine years as the Member of Parliament for Northampton North I have visited every school in my constituency a number of times. I always enjoy visiting schools and talking to pupils about democracy, Parliament and my work as an MP and Government Minister.
In the past 12 months alone (February 2018 to present) I have either visited or met in the House of Commons the following Northampton schools:
· Billing Brook school
· Blackthorn Good Neighbours Nursery school
· Purple Oaks Academy
· Northampton School for Boys
· Malcolm Arnold Academy
· Headlands Primary School
· St Peter’s Independent School
· Kingsthorpe College
· Parklands Nursery School
· Parklands Primary School
· Northampton College
I find that pupils of all ages have very good questions and many find politics very interesting. There are many politicians in Parliament today who remember an MP visiting their school when they were pupils and it is very important today that young people are encouraged to recognise their voice is important. If any parent, teacher or school would like me to visit their school or alternatively to arrange a visit to Parliament I would be very happy to arrange this– please contact me on michael.ellis.mp@parliament.uk.
