I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Northampton North branch of The Prince’s Trust.
The Prince’s Trust is a charity founded in 1976 by The King when he was the Prince of Wales. The Trust does wonderful work helping vulnerable young people to succeed. The charity helps disadvantaged young people access education, training and employment opportunities, and has now surpassed an impressive figure- it has helped over a million young people since its foundation. The charity continues to do excellent work in assisting disadvantaged young people in Northampton, which is a cause that I am proud to support.
During my visit I met the senior team leader Paul Hamblin and met the participants of the Prince’s Trust Team Programme in Northampton. This is the 74th Team run in the constituency and consists of 17 young people the ages of 16 to 25. The young people come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. The charity runs a number of training programmes and funding schemes to support local young people.
The young people who I met are now seeking to develop their confidence and skills with the great support provided by the Prince’s Trust, as they move towards a job and a career. During my visit I heard about The Prince’s Trust 12-week The Team Programme and the young people enrolled told me about why they have joined the Team Programme and how much it is helping them.
