I was delighted to visit the Good Companions Lunch Club at Broadmead Community Church recently at one of their fortnightly Wednesday sessions.
Good Companions is a lunch club for older members of our local community and was set up in 2017 to help reduce loneliness.
The Club was set up by Karen Gardner and started with just Karen and four neighbours making cakes and refreshments. Now it has 80 people on its register and a dedicated team of volunteers! (pictured)
I last visited in 2018 and the group has since expanded to larger premises due to popular demand.
The group meets every other Wednesday at Broadmead Community Church, which is a superb community asset, and indeed I attended the opening ceremony of the new building some years ago!
The following is a link to the lunch club’s Facebook page if you would like to get in touch: https://www.facebook.com/chitchatcoffeeclub/?locale=en_GB
If you run another community organisation and would me to visit then do contact me via email.
