I enjoyed my recent visit to Stimpson Avenue Academy, where I was greeted by the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher of the school after which we discussed how the school has developed since my previous visit a few years ago.
I was then taken on a tour of the excellent school facilities by the Head Boy and Head Girl followed by a meeting with the elected “junior leadership team” made up of pupils.
I then hosted a Question and Answer session with the pupils, who were very interested in my work as the Member of Parliament for Northampton North as well as my previous positions in Government and Cabinet.
Visiting schools and discussing the functions of Government with new generations is something that I have always considered to be of importance to promote awareness of the functions of our democracy, and I was very impressed with the school and its staff and pupils.
