Northamptonshire Police, together with police services around the country, work very hard to keep us all safe. Having an effective Police service is essential to a society which respects the rule of law. As a local Member of Parliament, I believe that it is important that I do all I can to assist and support the Police in their duties.
To that end, in Parliament I have supported reforms in recent years which have cut bureaucracy and have allowed officers to get out from behind desks and back on to the street.
In Northampton North I write to the police regularly on behalf of my constituents, whether it be regarding ongoing casework or more broad discussions on crime in the area in general.
Recorded crime in Northamptonshire is down 21% since 2010, and I would like to thank Northamptonshire Police officers for the often dangerous work they do and the risks they take to protect the community, often in challenging circumstances. On Christmas Day last month I visited Campbell Square Police Station to show my support.
