The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service held their annual Open Day recently, and I was very pleased to attend with many others at the Mounts Fire Station and meet firefighters, including the Station Manager, and see some of the fire appliances.
I remember my father taking me to The Mounts Fire Station when I was a small boy, perhaps over 35 years ago now, and our fire service have remained a highly regarded part of our community.
Tackling fires and rescuing those trapped and injured in road traffic accidents and in other incidents is a dangerous and difficult task, and fire service workers have to be on call, ready to respond at a moment’s notice at all times of the day and night.
They are a real credit to the town and County, and have saved many lives and properties from fire, as well as performing many other rescues and responding quickly to road traffic accidents and other emergencies.
