Regular readers of this Newsletter will recall that I went litter picking with the Northampton Litter Wombles a couple of months ago, having met the Northampton Litter Wombles in Parliament.
Recently, alongside fellow Northamptonshire MPs Andrew Lewer (Northampton South), Tom Pursglove (Corby) and Chris Heaton Harris (Daventry) I was pleased to attend a Litter Summit that had been arranged in Parliament by Phillip Hollobone MP (Kettering) to discuss efforts to combat the prevalence of litter and fly-tipping. The Minister with responsibility for litter (Rebecca Pow MP) attended and spoke at the meeting. We discussed how the Government can best combat litter and how the response across Council boundaries can be more unified and coordinated.
Regular readers of my newsletter will know of the excellent work of the Litter Wombles, who are a community group in Northampton that pick up litter in support of local authorities. They do superb work selflessly performing a vital public service to the community.
If you would like to volunteer for the Litter Wombles or would like any further information on their work then you can contact them via the following Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/northantslitterwombles.
