In preparation for Holocaust Memorial Day, which will be on Saturday, 27th January 2018 to mark the day of liberation of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment in Parliament.
In signing this Book, I am pledging my commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and remembering the millions who were brutally murdered during the Holocaust whilst also paying tribute to those extraordinary Holocaust survivors who continue to work well into their old age to ensure that the younger generations are taught about the Holocaust.
It is vitally important that the horrors of the Holocaust are taught to the younger generations to ensure nothing like it ever happens again – we must strive to promote peaceful coexistence between people of different faiths and backgrounds. In achieving this, the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust is as important as ever especially with the worrying rise of antisemitism in this country. We must never forget the tragic events that unfolded during the Nazi Holocaust.
