I was invited by the Minister of State for Veteran’s Affairs, Johnny Mercer MP, to nominate a Northampton military Veteran to celebrate our military personnel and recognise their service to our country at a “Veteran Champions” Reception at the Prime Minister’s residence at Number 10 Downing Street.
I was delighted to nominate Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Blomfield MBE TD.
Colonel Blomfield is the Royal Anglian Regiment ‘County Colonel’ for Northamptonshire and is a retired senior Army officer who remains active in the Northampton military community following decades of dedicated service in His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
He has previously also served as a judge, worked as a staff officer in the Headquarters of the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps during Britain’s peacekeeping operation in the former Yugoslavian territories, and was awarded an MBE in the Late Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2017.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate Lt Col. Blomfield’s many years of service and Northampton’s proud military community.
