I recently had a meeting with the new Chief Fire Officer for Northamptonshire, Mark Jones, at the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service’s (NFRS) headquarters in Wellingborough.
We discussed the importance of the work of the fire service in Northampton for the community and national-level policy on the fire service.
The summer heatwave last year, and subsequent rise in fires, has highlighted the importance of the work of the fire service in Northampton and across the country.
I have been a strong supporter of the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service throughout my 13 years as Member of Parliament, and I welcome the renewed attention on the work of the fire service and Government efforts to support them, including £75 million in extra grant funding and exploring structural reforms of the sector.
I will continue to offer my steadfast support to those at NFRS and the great service which they provide to the community.
