I am absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to have been awarded a Knighthood for ‘political and public service’ in the position of Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE).
The knighthood was announced on the evening of Friday, 16th June before the Trooping the Colour ceremony the following morning which marked the King’s first official birthday as Sovereign.
The award of a knighthood is an enormous privilege and a great honour.
I have held 8 ministerial positions and ten governmental roles serving under four Prime Ministers over the past ten years.
I have been appointed to Cabinet three times- twice as Attorney General and once as Minister for the Cabinet Office- and I have served as the Member of Parliament for Northampton North now for over 13 years and counting. I am the first MP for Northampton to have been appointed to Cabinet for 100 years. I am also very proud to have led the arrangements for the Gift from Parliament for the late Queen’s Diamond and Platinum Jubilee’s in 2012 and 2022 respectively, raising the funds from parliamentarians from across both Houses of Parliament and from across the political spectrum.
I am delighted to have been recognised for my service as an MP and as a Minister of the Crown.
