Every school and every pupil has been affected by COVID-19, with education having to be performed remotely for months on end. It was a great pleasure, therefore, to be able to visit Northampton School for Boys (NSB) and meet some pupils and teachers in person once again.
NSB is a school of the highest standards: just under 55% of all A-Level entries were graded A*/A or B in the previous school year. Additionally, twenty-seven students achieved a minimum of an A-grade average over at least three full A-level subjects in addition to several students gaining places to Oxford and Cambridge universities.
During my visit, I met Year 13 politics students. There was lots of very high calibre questioning, covering topics from freedom of speech, Universal Credit, and various aspects of the law including the new crime bill. They were very keen to hear about the latest reshuffle and the effects it may have on the government, with questions on foreign policy and the department for education also asked.
