Throughout my 13 years as Member of Parliament for Northampton North, and indeed for years before that too, I have held regular canvassing sessions in Northampton North with local volunteers.
Recently I was joined by some enthusiastic young volunteers for a full day of visiting thousands of houses in the constituency. I have arranged many such days during my time as an MP since 2010.
I always enjoy meeting people throughout Northampton, where of course I was myself born and brought up, and hearing from residents on their doorsteps about the things that matter to local people.
One of the best ways for any MP to be in touch with local views and the feelings and priorities of local people is for him or her to visit local constituents for a brief chat on their doorsteps. I do this most weeks on a Saturday and please feel free to raise any issues if I call at your home.
