On Thursday 13th January I appeared again in the House of Commons to take questions from Members of Parliament in my capacity as Her Majesty’s Paymaster General.
I outlined how the government supports free trade and a free economy. I discussed procurement reforms on which I have been working, together with ministerial colleagues in the Cabinet Office. I also informed the House about how we are improving procurement and thereby having a major effect on the economy.
To this end, the Prime Minister is bringing forward some of the biggest reforms in decades in this country. One of them will indeed be in procurement, which is worth £300 billion a year to our economy.
It is true to say that we are levelling up across the country and making reforms in all our mechanisms of government, including in the national health service, housing, the economy and transport, and we are doing it in the civil service, too, and will continue to do so, including here in Northampton.
