Late one Saturday night in the past fortnight I went to Northampton College, where I joined hundreds of people from the Hindu community in Northampton to celebrate the festival of Navratri.
Navratri is a nine-day period of worship of the Hindu deity Durga, and is one of the most important events in the Hindu calendar. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening, although this year I did not attempt the traditional Garba dance, which involves spinning around in a circle of other dancers.
Northampton is home to a wonderfully diverse society and I always enjoy celebrating this fact. I am happy to support people of every faith and religion in Northampton and I recognise the contribution they make to our communities.
