I was pleased to be invited to attend Northampton Partnership Homes (NPH) first ever gardening competition, which took place at Bouverie house in Hardingstone, Northampton on Tuesday 8th August.
This competition, organised by NPH, the authority which controls social housing in Northampton, celebrated well maintained and designed gardens from Northampton’s council housing. Gardening also helps community cohesion, and helps NPH’s tenants’ homes look their best thanks to the care and attention of their residents. The competition was an occasion to reward the hard work of the town’s green-fingered tenants.
The event had nearly thirty contestants, with categories ranging from Best Garden, to the garden which was the most environmentally friendly, and was judged by local radio personalities. This competition and other events like it are an excellent way of rewarding the bonds of neighbours and communities.
