I was very pleased to go to All Saints’ Church in Northampton Town Centre to watch infantry soldiers from C Company, (Northamptonshire and Rutland) the 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment on parade.
The 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment – nicknamed “The Poachers” – is the county regiment of Northamptonshire, and recruits from across the Midlands. They have been involved in virtually every British deployment in the modern era, and have served with distinction in many locations around the world, including highly dangerous deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Accompanied by the band of the Irish Guards, they marched from Angel Street, through the town to All Saints Church. At All Saints Church, the Poachers were inspected on Parade by the Mayor of Northampton.
As always, I was deeply impressed by the professionalism, discipline and skill of our Armed Forces on parade.
Afterwards, they marched on to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre Church and laid up their old Colours (regimental flag), as part of a thanksgiving service.
In my parliamentary work, I do all that I can to support HM Armed Forces, who work so hard to protect us.
