I know that many residents in Northampton North use pharmacies on a regular basis, so when I was invited to attend an event in parliament to see some demonstrations of the work they do, I was happy to go along.
Of course, a major part of pharmacies’ business is selling healthcare products and dispensing medicines, but pharmacies also provide a wide range of other services, such as flu vaccinations, blood pressure testing as well as healthcare advice.
In the Community Pharmacy event in Westminster, I spoke with the Chief Officer of Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes Local Pharmaceutical Committee, Anne-Marie King, so that I could hear more about the work that pharmacies do in Northampton. I even tried getting my own blood pressure tested!
Delivering quality, local healthcare is a priority for this Government, and in my work in Northampton and Westminster I am always keen to hear input from those who work in healthcare on how we can best deliver that.
