I had a meeting last week with the Head of Interpol who was visiting Parliament. Interpol is the largest international police organisation in the world, and we met to discuss the work they do in combating international crime. Interpol helps police from around 190 countries work together to combat crime.
I am sure in the years to come we will see international organisations such as Interpol providing different countries with the means to work together in fighting common enemies. As globalisation and technology advances, criminals and terrorists regularly operate across borders and this requires us to keep connected to ensure the world is a safer place- whether for international terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling, cyber crime or any other cross-border crimes.
