Diabetes is predicted to be one of the biggest threats to public health in the UK over the 21st Century. At present, roughly 3 million people have diabetes, with many more said to be undiagnosed.
I was pleased to attend a reception in Parliament to support JDRF, a charity for those suffering from the rarer Type 1 diabetes, and highlighting the great challenges but also great strides being made in combating diabetes.
The Home Secretary, Theresa May MP was also in attendance. Mrs May has Type 1 diabetes and is a real inspiration to so many people- as she copes with this condition whilst having one of the busiest diaries and toughest jobs in the country!
