The Cynthia Spencer Hospice is this year marking 40 years since its foundation. The whole community in Northampton is aware of the excellent service provided by the staff at Cynthia Spencer, many local families will have been touched by their care over the years and my own Aunt Diana spent her last days being superbly cared for at the Hospice a few years ago. I arranged for the staff to receive a visiting Government Minister, Marcus Jones MP, Minister for Communities and Local Government, to help raise awareness of their fundraising efforts and to plant a tree in their gardens.
The Minister praised Cynthia Spencer for the great work that they have done over the past 40 years, and spoke about how important it is to have local support and care for people near the end of their lives.
The Cynthia Spencer Hospice was set up in 1976 and since that time has provided an invaluable service to people suffering with terminal illness. The Cynthia Spencer team includes two specialist Consultants in palliative medicine, a team of doctors and specialist nurses and offers specialist physical, psychological, social and spiritual care.
This hospice has a really important bond with Northampton, and I am pleased to have been able to show my support for it.
