I was honoured to be invited to attend a Roman Catholic Mass last Friday evening at the Northampton Cathedral on the Barrack Road, with the Bishop of Northampton, in a special service to mark the 850th anniversary of the trial of St Thomas Becket in Northampton Castle.
We obviously have many places in Northampton which remind us of the Archbishop murdered in Canterbury Cathedral in the year 1170, including the Secondary School, and the remains of Northampton Castle have been carefully preserved at the site of the new railway station currently in the final stages of construction.
The service was attended by the High Sheriff of the County and the Mayor and Mayoress, and it was pleasing to recognise the rich history of our town.
