Since I was first elected in 2010, I have made it a priority to meet residents of Northampton North face-to-face whenever possible. I am often out knocking on doors on Saturday mornings, to ask constituents about the issues that are important to them.
I also hold regular surgeries, where I meet some of my constituents with the most pressing concerns, and offer advice.
I also regularly hold open surgeries in supermarkets in Northampton North, where shoppers and residents can have an impromptu chat with me. I think this a particularly good way to reach out to people who may not know much about how their MP can help them, and I recently held one at Asda supermarket in Kingsthorpe. I also hold them occasionally at Morrisons supermarket in Spinney Hill.
I consider helping my constituents to be a very important part of my job as an MP, and residents who need my help can always be assured of my support.
