On the morning of Thursday, 18th July I participated in my second Department for Transport Question and Answer session in the House of Commons following my promotion to Minister of State for Transport on 23rd May.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists RoadSmart is a long-established charity which promotes safe driving. They have 200 local units based around the country, including one right here in Northampton.

On Friday 5th July at one of my regular Northampton advice surgeries I was pleased to be visited by representatives of Northampton’s Kenyan community (NKC). We spoke about the integration of people of Kenyan descent into British life and Northampton’s community.

As the Government Minister with responsibility for roads – including pavements and all other walkways – one of the issues that has been raised with me is that of pavement parking.

On Saturday 29th June I continued my busy schedule as Transport Minister by launching a new Government initiative that very quiet electric and hybrid cars will now have to feature a noise emitting device when travelling at low speed to warn pedestrians of their presence.

On Wednesday, 3rd July I delivered the keynote speech at Brake’s annual reception.

On Monday, 10th June the US Ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, joined me on a visit to Hyde Park Barracks. The barracks, located within a mile of Buckingham Palace, host the world-famous Household Cavalry of the British Army, who act as Her Majesty the Queen’s personal bodyguard.

On the morning of Sunday, 23rd June I joined dozens of Northampton residents at Abington Park to start a sponsored walk to raise money and awareness in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

The British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) is a UK charity (charity number: 289145) which sees more than 80,000 women nationally to provide reproductive healthcare advice and services.
