On Wednesday, 18th September it was my pleasure to attend the formal opening of the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies’ (ICLT) new facility located at the University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus.
When people have committed criminal offences and been convicted in court, they will sometimes receive a sentence to do ‘unpaid work’ in the community. This used to be called Community Service and is now called the Community Payback scheme.
In the last fortnight, in my capacity as one of the Law Officers of the Crown, I visited the charity ‘Standing Together’ which works to protect the thousands of women and men who are subjected to violence at home.
On Monday, 12th August I took part in a crucial cross-organisation meeting in No 10 Downing Street, chaired by the Prime Minister, to discuss how the criminal justice system can work better to deter and prevent crime.
