I was very pleased to be asked to nominate two local Northampton ‘charity champions’ to a Reception at Number 10 Downing Street with Mrs Samantha Cameron.
i) John Helm (first left) is the Fundraising Manager at Cynthia Spencer Hospice. He does a brilliant job in raising vast sums of money for the Hospice every year.
ii) Neelam Aggarwal Singh (second left) is Chair of the Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation in Northampton and is currently focussed on raising funds for a new temple and community centre in Lings.
The following week I nominated a Northampton Head Teacher to meet the Prime Minister at a Reception for ‘Inspiring Teachers’.
I was delighted to nominate the Principal of Cedar Road Primary School, Kay Gerrett (second photo, centre). Mrs Gerrett is an exemplary Headteacher, and Cedar Road- which I have visited many times, is a very impressive school. Teachers perform a very tough and crucial job in our community and I was pleased that this reception recognised their work nationwide.
