In recent months a small number of pet dogs around the country have died from an as-yet unknown disease. It appears similar to a rare dog condition called Alabama Rot.
After the death of one dog recently in Northamptonshire, I decided to write to the Minister in government responsible for animal welfare as I feel we need to try and establish what exactly this disease is and how we can learn to combat it.
I asked for a report from the Chief Veterinary Officer in the UK and received a response last week saying they were allocating financial resources and were working with top research scientists on this problem.
