As the representative of all residents of Northampton North I regularly intervene to try to help my constituents.
I receive hundreds of emails a week, from many of the 65,000 residents living in Northampton North, and many of these emails are requests for my help. I cannot of course always succeed in resolving issues, but I always do my best to help where I can, and as speedily as I can.
The types of cases I help my constituents with range very widely from housing problems to immigration matters, from unrepaired potholes to overhanging trees, from anti-social behaviour to queries about international policy, and many more.
To give just two examples, I recently wrote on behalf of the Leader of Northampton Borough Council to the Minister of State of Housing and Planning Alok Sharma MP because the Council is concerned about Houses in Multiple Occupation (HIMOs). I also wrote on behalf of a World War Two veteran to make sure he was belatedly awarded some medals he was entitled to for his War service but had never received.
These are just a couple of examples of the hundreds of cases that I deal with every year. I see every email and respond personally to every case myself and usually am able to send a reply in just two or three working days. As your representative in Parliament I take my duty to represent my constituents very seriously, and I have regularly been top rated in the league tables of all MPs for my responses to my constituents.
