On Friday, 10th March 2017 I joined Brandon Lewis MP, Minister for Policing and the Fire Service, during his visit to Northampton.
During the afternoon we visited a joint Fire and Police Station where we met many emergency service workers who do vital work to keep the residents of Northampton safe, including Chief Fire Officer for Northamptonshire Darren Dovey, and Chief Constable Simon Edens. The Police and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold and Cllr Andre Gonzales de Savage were also present.
The Minister was impressed that Northamptonshire is leading the way in our Police and Fire services working together to share property and jointly utilise resources.
A Police Officer also delivered a short presentation to the Minister regarding the Police’s ‘Stop and Search’ powers.
We were all very impressed by a brand new and state-of-the-art Joint Command Vehicle which the Police and Fire service will use for major emergencies and which is one of the most highly advanced in the country.
