On Friday, 3rd December, I visited Northampton Academy, where I spoke to the Sixth Form politics classes.
The politics students were originally due to come to Westminster for a scheduled tour of Parliament in November of this year, where I was due to meet them at the end of their tour and take questions from them.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions on the parliamentary estate, the tour was cancelled by Parliament and so I offered to come to the school instead and talk to them.
Parliament arranged a virtual tour instead and subsequently I visited them at their school to discuss various aspects of my role and our constitution, where I took varied questions on things from my personal background and motivation, the challenges of being an MP and indeed challenges facing the town and the country at large, as well as on areas such as immigration and the importance of economics and taxation.
I regularly visit the secondary schools in Northampton North and if you would like to arrange a visit to a school you know please do email me.
