I was delighted to be invited to visit Wallace Road Nursery School, where I met Beccy (Headteacher), Bev (Business Manager), and Kim Carne (Chair of the Board of Governors). The nursery’s outdoor area is fully equipped with extensive play equipment and the staff are doing a great job looking after lots of 3- & 4-year-olds who are benefitting from an environment which combines learning with fun!
In light of the pandemic, the nursery staff have adapted incredibly well under what have been highly challenging circumstances, and I commend them for all their work.
It was excellent to see some of the small children who were very lively and inquisitive, and the tour presented me with the opportunity to learn of the exceptional work that Wallace Road Nursery School do in providing a unique service to both children and their parents within the local area. (Covid requirements were maintained throughout the visit).
Also in the last fortnight I had the opportunity to sit in on a virtual class at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School where several pupils took part in a Question & Answer session with me, where they intelligently pressed me on a range of issues from life to politics!
I always thoroughly enjoy school visits and take great pride in being able to engage with our town’s young stars and the teachers who inspire and champion them. I too look forward to when Covid restrictions allow tours to resume at the Houses of Parliament.
