In the last fortnight I was delighted to support – both in my role as Member of Parliament for Northampton North and as Arts Minister – seven pupils from Northampton School for Boys at the ‘Move It’ Dance Festival at the Excel Centre in London.
The ‘Move It’ Festival is the UK’s biggest annual dance event. Some 20,000 young people attend over a three day period and Year 11 students from the Northampton School for Boys dance department were given the honour for the first time of performing in front of thousands of people on the main stage at the event in the event’s thirteen year history.
The students performed brilliantly and showcased their creativity superbly. Their skills were noticed by many in the dance world, brilliantly representing Northampton talent.
NSB is a wonderful example of a school really supporting the teaching of Arts to pupils as a real force for good.
I will continue to support Northampton’s arts and culture as a local MP and as the Arts Minister.
