As the Arts Minister I strongly support the teaching of the Arts in schools. The creative arts give young people vital life skills, improves confidence and builds teamwork experience.
This past fortnight I again attended the world’s biggest annual dance event ‘Move it!’ hosted at the Excel Centre in London. An extraordinary 30,000 people attend this event.
I was in attendance as the Arts Minister to show my support. I also attended as a Northamptonshire MP because this is the second year in a row that NSB have been invited to take part in this prestigious festival and demonstrates the superb quality of dance teaching at the school. The Northants dance company Rage also took part this year.
After the performance I was given a tour of ‘Move It!’ festival to see some of the great work being done all around the country in dance subjects – I even met Louie Spence from Pineapple Dance Studios!
