I recently joined Lieutenant Colonel John Hanson MBE and other members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces – both full-time and reservists – at a dinner at Northampton’s Clare Street Reserve Centre to celebrate the great work of our Armed Forces generally and the 103 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) more specifically. The 103 Battalion, headquartered in Northampton, is comprised of Army Reservists, many of whom have been deployed in Afghanistan, Cyprus and the Balkans. The Battalion specialises in training military engineers who support their regular counterparts.
The Mess Dinner Night was organised by the Northampton area military commander in order to thank those in our local community who support the Battalion and the Armed Forces Covenant. The Dinner was a great success and it was an honour for me to be invited. I have always been a supporter of the brave men and women who serve in HM Armed Forces and our local reservists based at Clare Street Reserve Centre are a valued and honoured part of our Northampton community.
