On Friday 16th June, I had the honour of re-opening the newly refurbished Eleonore House sheltered housing in Eastfield, Northampton.
Housing for the elderly is an important issue for me and for many of my constituents- and I was pleased Northampton Partnership Homes asked me to unveil a plaque and cut the ribbon on this development. Eleonore House provides a much needed service to the community. I have been working with Northampton Partnership Homes since their formation to help address the growing and changing need for older people’s housing in Northampton. Eleonore House is the first scheme to be completed.
The new facilities looked excellent – six new apartments have been created, three of which are wheelchair accessible - and it was great to meet the hard-working staff who do a wonderful job of looking after the residents.
I have also been working for years with NPH and the local community on the redevelopment of a much larger housing scheme for elderly people in Northampton North, namely Lakeview House- and there are exciting plans for the re-development of that site too.
