On Tuesday, 21st March I again took part in a competition I actually won a couple of years ago when TV chef Ainsley Harriott was judging. It did not require much skill, hard work or focus: it involved decorating a cupcake with Maltesers! The event is held for the Maltesers & Sainsbury’s Red Nose Day Parliamentary baking competition.
The event was a drop-in cupcake decorating competition which this year was judged by MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace. Although I won the competition in 2015, I am afraid that, as you can see from the picture on the left, Gregg looks distinctly unimpressed with my efforts this year!
The MP who creates the best cupcake design receives a donation from Sainsbury’s, Maltesers and Comic Relief to give to a Red Nose Day cause of their choosing.
This event was held to raise awareness and money for Red Nose Day (which this year fell on Friday, 24th March 2017) which is of course a brilliant annual cause. I also met Emma Freud OBE at the event who has worked very closely with Comic Relief.
