In the last fortnight I visited Northamptonshire Police’s Weston Favell Police Station to meet the new Police Commander covering Northampton Borough, Superintendent Kevin Mulligan.
Superintendent Mulligan is our Local Policing Commander and he helps to keep crime down by working closely with local communities. We had a very positive meeting during which we discussed how we can work together going forward.
Superintendent Mulligan told me about his work in helping to enhance the driving and riding skills of officers to improve safety on the roads, as well as his work with the Police’s brand new interceptor cars (pictured above). These very powerful cars are specifically designed to fight against those who are using the county’s road network to commit crime. The cars are high performance and utilise new technologies used by the Police to intercept and respond to criminals.
In my over 10 years as MP for Northampton North I have always worked closely with Northamptonshire Police. Indeed even before being first elected as an MP I worked in the criminal justice system and supported the police in their work. We can be very proud of the extraordinary job our police officers do, in often difficult circumstances, to protect our community. Along with all key workers, the Police have stepped up during this global pandemic to help keep the public safe and I am grateful to them for that.
