I was pleased to welcome Anna Earnshaw to her new post, following a competitive national recruitment process for the position. In our meeting we had the opportunity to discuss the new Unitary Council's plans for Northampton.
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, the newly-assembled, single-unitary council is responsible for providing a range of public services to residents and businesses in the region, including all my constituents in Northampton North.
In this meeting in Northampton town centre, we discussed a wide variety of issues including on e-scooters, the upcoming elections, and the Council’s general plans including in use of Government funding to improve the town.
Anna has long given an excellent contribution to local public service, including in her previous role as Director of Adult Services, and I echo comments from local Councillors in that this move presents a fresh start for local government in the area and Anna will be absolutely central to the delivery of this vision.
