I recently met again with Northamptonshire Police Chief Constable, Nick Adderley, Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Stephen Mold, and Northamptonshire Chief Fire Officer, Darren Dovey, who briefed me and other Northamptonshire MPs on important issues affecting Police and Emergency Services in the county.
Days later, I visited the General Secretary of Northamptonshire Police Federation, Pat Anstead, who will be retiring soon after thirty years of outstanding service. The Police Federation is the statutory staff association for all police constables, sergeants, Inspectors and Chief Inspectors and is charged with representing its members in all matters which affect welfare and efficiency.
It was good to check in with Pat to discuss a multitude of issues including police welfare and support.
Also in the last fortnight I visited the Crown Prosecution Service in Chelmsford, Essex and spoke with the National Hate Crime Lead, Chief Crown Prosecutor Chris Long, where we discussed the CPS’s efforts to combat hate crime at a national level.
Our emergency services do a superb job in difficult circumstances and I have always been keen to support their work.
