I joined hundreds of people from the Northampton Hindu community late one evening to celebrate the festival of Navratri which took place in a large Hall at Northampton College in Booth Lane.
Navratri is a period of worship spread over nine days to pay homage to the Hindu deity Durga. Navratri is one of the most important events in the Hindu calendar and I have enjoyed supporting the event for several consecutive years. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening again this year.
This year I judged a competition of decorative plates and then attempted to take part in the traditional Garba dance which involves spinning around in a circle with other dancers.
Northampton has a wide range of diverse communities and I always celebrate our rich cultural diversity.
