On Friday, 17th November 2017 I met the Managing Director of Uno Buses, who showed me one of their new state of the art Violet buses which are now transporting Northampton residents around town.
Uno Buses have invested £1.5 million in purchasing 8 modern, environmentally friendly double-decker buses with features which include fitted USB charging points and free super-fast WIFI. These Violet buses will operate on the 19 route and will run between both University of Northampton campuses, Kingsthorpe, the town centre, the train station and Sixfields.
I had the chance to board a new bus to have a look at its new features and I even got behind the wheel, although obviously not to drive anywhere! I also got to meet some of the drivers and announce the result of their company’s competition to name the new bee mascot: with the name Bruno being victorious.
I was impressed by the new Violet bus and I am pleased that Uno Buses have invested to bring these buses to Northampton. I am happy to support the roll-out of the environmentally friendly Violet buses across Northampton.
