In nearly 11 years as your MP I have knocked on countless doors, speaking to many residents about issues that matter to them – and in this time my team and I have knocked on, or leafletted every single door in Northampton North many times, although of course not everyone has been at home when I have knocked!
In normal times I canvass and leaflet all throughout the year, but clearly due to Covid that has not been possible. I am therefore pleased that in the past couple of weeks I have, in line with Covid guidance, been hitting the streets of Northampton with local candidates for the upcoming local elections on Thursday, 6th May.
These will be the first elections for the new West Northamptonshire Council and as such will be an historic occasion.
In the coming weeks and months I hope to resume my normal Saturday morning canvassing sessions seeking your views – and of course we are adhering to Covid guidelines on campaigning. (https://www.gov.uk/government/news/covid-secure-election-campaigning-will-go-ahead).
Please note- political campaigning was suspended between Friday 9th April and the morning of Tuesday, 13th April as a mark of respect for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and again for the day of the Funeral on Saturday, 17th April.
